Connection Found Between Obesity And Infertility
Medical professionals have documented many of the health issues related to, or blamed on obesity and have recently concluded the connection between obesity and infertility. There are many possible causes for infertility, but studies have shown obese women, those with a body mass index over 30, generally have inconsistent menstrual cycles, leading to inconsistent ovulation, reducing the chances of becoming pregnant.

The number of women who are overweight or obese suffering infertility and many of them have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which is most often seen along with obesity, irregular menstruation and inconsistent ovulation. In many suffering from obesity and infertility in-vitro fertilization efforts have been unsuccessful. The connection between obesity and diabetes as hyperinsulinemia is showing to have an impact or fertility.

Other studies suggest that obese women have a higher rate of immature eggs and with inconsistent ovulation have a higher rate of tubular pregnancies, pregnancy that occur outside the uterus such as in the fallopian tubes. While this may be one cause of more frequent miscarriages among obese women, there appears to be other, not yet identified causes. The studies connecting obesity and infertility are pointing to the connection but additional studies continue to find the exact causes.

Birth Complications Show Increase For Obese Mothers

Recent studies conducted in Sweden have shown that in addition to maternal complications of obesity and infertility, the increase in blood pressure in obese pregnant women is four or five times more likely. There is also an increased risk for babies being still born in the mothers with a body mass index above 35 than in those with a BMI of 26 or less.

Babies born of obese mothers have two or three times more of a chance of having their shoulder get caught on the mother’s pelvis, which can cause injury or death to the newborn infant. There is also a higher possibility of the infant having a higher risk of gestational diabetes. The causes of many of the problems with obesity and infertility are being translated into many of the problems associated with pregnancies in obese women.

As research continues to further understand the connection between obesity and infertility, hypothyroidism is also being examined to determine if there is a connection. Many obese people, male and female with thyroid problems also suffer from obesity, but the connection between the thyroid, obesity and infertility are still being studied, the thyroid plays a large role in pregnancy for women as well as the health of the fetus.

The Land Of Plenty Is Bursting At The Seams
Obesity is a growing concern in America. It is estimated that more than 97 million Americans are overweight or obese. Many people do not realize that there being overweight falls into the “obese” category. The National Institute of Health (NIH) considers a person obese is they weight more than 20 percent more than what is medically considered their ideal bodyweight. This additional 20 percent of body weight is responsible for many different health issues and causes many real health concerns for those that are carrying these extra pounds.

Considering that obesity is a health concern for over one-third of the adult population, it is not surprising that the weight of the American children and teenagers is becoming an additional concern. Studies show that between 5-25% or more of children are becoming obese. Health professionals are alarmed as the increase in weight continues to increase
the health concerns for children and adults alike.

The Tools For Measuring Obesity Don’t Reveal Good News For America

Defining obesity is measured by the use of two different tools; body mass index (BMI) or waist measurement. These two tools for body fat and obesity measurement are universal in the medical field.

Body mass Index (BMI) is the comparative use of the measurement of body weight to the proportionate measurements of body height. This is generally the most common measurement system used by health professionals when diagnosing obesity.

Waist circumference is a way to use the patient’s abdominal fat to determine obesity. Successful analysis using the waist circumference method of measuring obesity is done by measuring the patient’s abdominal fat. Medical specialists have determined that the body fat around the waist of both men and women is now proven to be the major cause for health concerns. Measuring this region is now used as a tool to diagnosis obesity and obesity related diseases; men with a waist measurement over 40 inches and women with waist measurements over 35 inches are generally considered to be overweight when using this tool.

IF You Or Someone You Love Has A Problem, Help Them Resolve It

Many people in America do not realize that they are considered obese. Often, people will discuss their weight as a “problem” but do not realize how realistic that statement is in regards to the health risks these extra pounds are impressing upon their lives. If you or someone you love is clinically obese, it is important that you do everything you can to assist their success in losing that excess unhealthy body fat. It really can become a matter of life or death.

Understanding the Obesity and Cancer Risk
There are plenty of health issues that are prominent in the world today, however some are considered as being more urgent than others, namely those which are increasing at a dramatic rate.

The obesity and cancer risk is now higher than ever, and so it has never been more important and in fact necessary for you to learn about the seriousness of this obesity and cancer risk as well as everything else that goes along with it.

About the Obesity and Cancer Risk

During the last two decades in particular, the percentage of overweight people in the world has increased dramatically, and in fact, nearly one-third of all adults are now classified as being obese. In addition to this, the percentage of children who are overweight continues to increase, and among children and teens who are aged 6-19, 15 percent are overweight.

The Causes of Obesity

There are a number of different causes that are considered as being responsible for obesity, however overall experts have come to the conclusion that the most chief causes of obesity are a sedentary lifestyle and an overconsumption of high-calorie food. In simpler terms, people in the world today eat more and more unhealthily than they should, and do not get enough physical activity.

How Obesity is Connected to Cancer

Obesity is connected to cancer more than almost any other factor in the world, and this is why the obesity and cancer risk is such an important issue to take into consideration. Studies have been conducted which show that cancer is much more common among overweight people, and so there is now proof that can be used to back up this argument.

The results from these studies showed that for most cancers, the higher your body mass index was the higher your risk of obesity and cancer risk. The soaring obesity is then only expected to bring numerous more cases of obesity, and so obviously then there needs to be some sort of solution brought about to address this very serious problem.

Finding Solutions

The only real way that any proper and effective solutions can be brought about on this issue is through research and time, and so we really need to make sure that not only do we as people begin changing our lifestyles for the better, including eating healthier and getting more exercise, but also that we contribute what we can towards funds and programs that are going to help obesity and cancer causes.

Obesity Discrimination: Some Scary Statistics
Obesity discrimination has been called the last acceptable form of prejudice. Although eight out of ten Americans are overweight and 43 million are either obese or morbidly obese, people continue to make fat jokes, wear offensive t-shirts (“No Fat Chicks!”), and worse, discriminate against obese people in public, in healthcare, and on the job.

Public Obesity Discrimination

Obesity discrimination and sex discrimination often go hand in hand. Not too many people shout rude things at very large men, probably because they’ve discovered that it can be hazardous to their health. But let an obese woman walk by a group of men, and all too often they’ll start making comments about the shape and size of the woman’s body. Several women have reported being “rated” on a scale of one to ten as they walked past fraternity houses or construction sites.

Another subtle form of obesity discrimination is public scolding. Although it’s never well-mannered to correct a stranger’s behavior in public (unless the stranger is behaving illegally, in which case it’s best to leave the correction to the police), it’s especially offensive to tell someone how many calories or in a food or whether or not the food is good for them. I once had a woman tell me, “You’d have such a pretty face if you could just lose a few pounds.” I considered saying, “And you’d have such a great personality if you’d only keep your mouth shut,” but self control won out. Darn it.

Both male and female children report obesity discrimination in schools often starting as early as kindergarten. As one of my friends’ kids explained to me, one of the worst insults you can offer a classmate is to tease them about being in love with the fattest kid of the opposite sex.

Healthcare Obesity Discrimination

Obesity can put you at risk for other conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, etc. Certainly, doctors have an obligation to discuss risk factors for serious diseases with their patients. However, considering that 90 to 95% of dieters gain back all the weight they lose and more, how responsible is it for physicians to suggest patients go on a diet?

To put it another way, how would you feel if your doctor gave you an expensive pill that you knew would cause nasty side effects and then mentioned the pill had only a 5% success rate?

Additionally, most private insurance companies refuse to offer insurance to obese patients.

Employment Obesity Discrimination

Obesity discrimination is probably worse on the job than it is anywhere else. The American Obesity Association cited the following, alarming, statistics:

All other factors among candidates being equal, employers overwhelmingly described fat job applicatns in negative terms such as “socially inept” or “emotionally impaired.”

In another study, researchers found that weight played a greater part than any other factor—including age, sex, or race—in deciding whether or not a candidate would get a job.

Finally, asked to rate a list of potential employees, employers rated fat candidates more negatively than they rated mental patients or ex-felons.

And while there are laws to protect people who experience job discrimination based on sex, age, race, religion, and increasingly, sexual orientation, there are no laws in place to protect people who suffer obesity discrimination.

Whatever your weight, why not stop and make a promise now? Obesity discrimination ends with me. See, that wasn’t so hard, was it?

The Bariatric Obesity Physician
A bariatric specialist is an obesity physician. A society for bariatric physicians was begun in 1954 to regulate the guidelines of these physicians and now holds a seat on the board of the American Medical Association. They are now an international association with special interest and experience in the treatment of overweight, obesity and related disorders. Their purpose is to maintain practice guidelines, provide education and health care to the public. There are many doctors who consider themselves obesity physicians and this association was formed to eliminate the quacks and help the public fight this medical problem.

Lifestyle Change

With the advance of obesity in our culture, the internet has created all sorts of diet doctors and diet pills which profess to cure this weighty issue. An obese individual will seek the fastest and easiest cure for this problem by seeking out these pills or so-called doctors and end up in worse shape. An obese person must research and find a responsible and credible obesity physician to conquer this disease. When searching the internet, study the associations which the obesity physician is a member and be absolutely sure he or she has an M.D. at the end of their name. Check with the state to make sure the physician is in good standing and then make a phone call.

An appropriate obesity physician will first introduce his patient to proper diet and nutrition and then the appropriate exercise. Each obese patient is different and will require different exercise options. Behavior modifications and lifestyle changes are a must for the obese patient and his doctor must educate him on these modifications. Only when necessary will an obesity physician prescribe anti-obesity medications and supplements. The obesity physician knows full well that when the patient quits taking these medications, the chances for him to revert to his old lifestyle and eating habits will increase. But when the need to lose weight is immediately life threatening, the use of anti-obesity medications is necessary for quick results.

It is the duty of the obesity physician to initiate all diagnostic studies on his obese patient. Telling a patient he is severely overweight and to go home and diet and exercise is not an option. The physician must treat obesity as he would any other medical condition and properly study the patient’s medical histories and follow through weight and nutrition plans and follow up visits. It is the obesity physician’s responsibility to monitor his patient, as obesity leads to diabetes, heart disease, circulatory and respiratory problems. A proper obesity physician will be aware of all of these conditions and should educate his patient accordingly.

The Importance To Teach Children About Obesity
Obesity is a growing concern all over the world in adults but also with children. Obesity is caused by a variety of factors out of which some are: genetic, an existing medical condition, stress, insomnia and overeating.

The fact is that we lead today extremely busy lives, most of the time multitasking at work, in the car and/or at home and that creates stress, which leads to overeating or eating comfort foods and/or eating ready-made foods due to lack of time.

One of the big problems with children obesity is that parents have little or no time to spend with their children to make healthy foods and/or teach children about obesity, which will help them to be aware of the dangers that overeating poses. Here are a few ways in which you can teach children about obesity so they are aware of the dangers ahead.

Discussing Meals

Families should make time to sit down at breakfast and dinner everyday or to have at least one parent present at one of these meals in order to teach children about obesity. Discussing meals should be done in a fun and informative way so that your child will find it interesting and enjoyable in order for him or her to remember the details. For example, if you are informing your children about portion sizes, calories and saturated fats in foods, you should try to make it sound like fun as well as provide a little information at a time so he or she does not get bored and will remember the details.

Prepare nutritious, balanced diets and talk to your children about the importance of vitamins and minerals, which are found in fruits and vegetables and how they should make an effort to include them in their meals; most importantly, how it will directly affect their health and image.

Discussing Appearance

While some parents don’t talk at all about nutrition and appearances, others overdo it and that, too, is not healthy, as children can easily get obsessive and stressed over things like food and appearance, and that can turn out to be harmful and dangerous for your child.

When you teach children about obesity, you need to focus on their health and appearance; children may not fully grasp the health part but they will understand quickly if you talk about their looks, therefore, you must not over-stress it but always be encouraging and supportive, especially if your child is overweight.

Helpful Tip

A great way to teach children about obesity, and how food directly affects it, is by keeping informative charts in the kitchen where the calories of the most popular foods are shown in a fun way. You should also try to provide the right types of foods at the right time but also ensure that you do not deprive your child from fun foods that he or she enjoys.

Teach your children to enjoy food, eat slowly and wait a few minutes in between servings as well as try as much as possible not to eat in front of the television and/or in the presence of a distraction, as that is when everybody, not only children, tends to overeat.

Solution For Obesity: Simple Things That Help You Shed Some Weight
Solution For Obesity: Simple Things That Help You Shed Some Weight

According to studies, obesity has become a worldwide epidemic. If you are one of the millions of people who are afflicted by this condition, it is time for you to look for a lasting solution for obesity. Always remember that obesity brings about different kinds of misery and diseases so do not allow yourself to become a victim of this kind of condition for long.

In most cases, you do not really need any drastic solution for obesity. Simple changes in your lifestyle and your daily routine can do wonders to your body. According to experts, there are simple solutions for obesity that you can do at home without really spending a lot of time and money.

Changing Your Lifestyle

The best solution for obesity is a change in your lifestyle. If you are one of those people who have been leading a sedentary life for a long time, you should start making changes in your daily routine. Simple changes in your daily routine will greatly help reduce your weight. For instance, cutting your TV watching time is a good solution for obesity. What is the connection between obesity and watching TV?

People who watch TV a lot spend several hours just sitting in their couch and not doing any physical activities at all except clicking the remote control every now and then. Unfortunately, clicking the remote control does not qualify as a form of exercise so you do not burn much calories if ever you burn any calories at all clicking the remote control of your TV. Instead of watching TV all day, get out of the couch and do some exercise.

According to studies, watching TV encourages people to start munching on junk foods. In most cases, people who watch TV for several hours will end up eating tons of junk food each day. To avoid eating too much junk food, limit your TV watching time to an hour or even less each day.

Instead of sitting in your couch watching TV, move around the house and do some exercise. Always remember that moving around the house can help burn calories so start doing something physical instead of just sitting in front of the TV set for hours. Climbing the stairs in your house several times a day is a good solution for obesity.

Another very practical solution for obesity is to avoid the fast foods. If you have been living on fast foods, you should quit that habit right this minute. According to experts, fast foods can wreck havoc on your diet. Instead of eating French fries and hamburger, try eating fresh fruits and vegetables.
